David Serbin is a patent attorney specializing in the chemical and
mechanical arts. His areas of expertise include pharmaceuticals,
pharmacokinetics, polymers, bleaching chemicals, metal alloys and
petrochemical processing. Over his 24 year career, David has written
and/or prosecuted hundreds of patent applications and has conducted
hundreds of interviews with examiners at the U.S. Patent and Trademark
Office (USPTO). His long experience in working face to face with patent
examiners, combined with his wide scope of technical expertise, allows
David to offer clients unique and innovative approaches to patent
protection which are tailored to the increasingly difficult regulatory and
case law environment in patent law.
Besides patent writing and prosecution, David also has extensive
experience in other matters before the USPTO, including reexamination and
interference proceedings, and numerous oral hearings before the Board of
Patent Appeals and Interferences (BOPAI). David has also engaged in a wide
range of client counseling matters including the writing of validity and
infringement opinions, due diligence and technology licensing. Prior to
practicing law, David was a research scientist and is co-inventor on four
United States patents.
